A Love Story: Tiny Acts of Disruption

This article is from my MONTHLY LOVE LETTER where I share my experiences and ideas around taking a slower, more natural approach to taking intentional action, prioritizing our energy, embodying values, experimenting with new ways of working, and upgrading our mindset. And who knows what else! If you are a Curious Individual, Creative Entrepreneur or are part of a Conscious Company and are interested to explore new possibilities for showing up with more ease within your work and life, I invite you to reach out to learn how I can support you through personalized coaching or customized collaborative experiences.

When was the last time that you felt disruption in your life?

How often are you picking up on the patterns of your life? Whether it’s the patterns of your behaviours, the nature that surrounds you, or the signs from the universe that keep repeating in time?

It can be easy to overlook where patterns may be at play because of a hyper fixation on achieving a goal, being stuck in survival mode, or being hypnotized by the robotic nature of routine.

But what I think people don’t talk enough about is how patterns can show up as invitations for us to identify what we should be paying more attention to… simply for the sake of awareness or in certain situations as opportunities for disruption.

And when I think about disruption I think of something as little as experimenting with a slightly different approach. It doesn’t always have to be a massive shift that takes a lot of effort or time or energy. Just something that will provoke more fun, freedom, ease, or joy.

For me, this past month I have been experimenting with distributing my own patterns by creating more opportunities to sit with imperfection, to invite it to be acknowledged and even celebrated. And this started with the simple self-awareness of the patterns that have been repeating in my reality… the patterns that have been holding me back from creating and sharing more of my thoughts from the heart, specifically through writing. And the tiny act of disruption that I embraced was giving myself permission to create without the need to over-edit or aim for perfection. My aim was simply to how space for myself to share from the heart and not worry about the rest.

And funny enough the universe dropped another pattern bomb right in my lap when I had multiple people reach out to me about a typo in one of my emails. I knew right away that this type of pattern was an invitation for me to embrace my experiment with imperfection even more. I knew it was an invitation for me to start talking about perfection as something we can disrupt and embrace as humans who have been conditioned to try to operate like robots. Even robots don’t always get it right.

If you’ve been following along for a while now perhaps this isn’t the first time that you’ve seen a Monthly Love Letter from me in your inbox… or my latest monthly sharing of THE POSSIBILITIES that has become such an easy way for me to share different case studies of possible outcomes from working with me using hypnosis.

But beyond those containers that I’ve created for myself to show up consistently and write, I have been filling in the blanks of everything else I send in between as I go. But what you haven’t seen is the almost daily journaling practice that I’ve gotten back into and the endless scribbles of information that I was too resistant to embrace putting pen to paper because of how it wouldn’t be documented in a way that can be easily shared with all of you.

What I was missing then was the permission to get messy, to download my thoughts without the intention of sharing everything and knowing that I can keep some wisdom for myself… that these very blurbs of private mind vomit would be exactly what I needed to share more authentically and naturally with all of you… and with that being more imperfect.

Along with enjoying time with my family, exploring the beauty of desert life, dancing my butt off at Coachella, and deepening my spiritual practice… amongst other things that I will keep private for now… holding this new awareness of how much patterns can tell us about what we need most has been the biggest growth edge that I am grateful to say that I’ve been able to begin navigating my way through. Over the past 4 months, I have been hanging out in the desert of California, and it feels really fitting to share this journey I have been going through as a way to close out my stay there.

If you’re curious to identify where you can begin disrupting perfectionism in your own life, I encourage you to…

🔁 look for the patterns

🔁 look for the things you’ve been neglecting in the pursuit of something bigger

🔁 look for what you’ve been neglecting as a way of keeping you from experiencing more in your life

🔁 look at the nature around you for answers and clues

🔁 look for where you have been feeling overly safe inside a bubble of comfort that perhaps is keeping you small

Remember, disruption and rebellion don’t have to be loud or look big. They can start by taking a really small experimental step that leads to more fun, freedom, ease, or joy. Try not to overthink it. Your intuition knows.

Lots of love,

💕 Lauren

P.S. I’ve been thinking about creating a container where you can all show up with that one pattern that you’re ready to disrupt… to experiment with and break free of.
